MDI's story began in 1980, when parent company Macho Products, Inc., started manufacturing foam trauma protection for the martial arts and law enforcement training industries.

The company grew into a $13 million dollar company, setting milestones in foam manufacturing. Using customer feedback, performing tireless research, and adopting a dedication to innovation, Macho held, and continues to hold, a leadership position in the industries they serve.

The company has a history of setting product quality and safety standards, has achieved ISO 9001:2000 manufacturing credentials, and established new ASTM standards in the martial arts industry.

With this experience, MDI was born.

Years of experience in dipped foam manufacturing led R&D teams to experiment with the possibility of injection-molding foam. The company's reputation for visionary thinking proved to be alive and well in 2000 when company leaders opened MDI to make injected-molded component parts.

We had a winning solution.

The benefits of injection-molded foam offer much more to product design than any other foam manufacturing option. MDI immediately stirred interest and remains one of just a handful of companies manufacturing injection-molded foam and the only one in the United States.

We call it PolyCell™ Injection-Molded Foam.

In a nutshell, MDI's Polycell™, a polyolefin elastomer that starts in pellet form, is injection-molded direct from compound into a final product creating soft foam solutions with unbelievable detail and unrivaled features.
